René Egli Windsurfing Fuerteventura

Situated on the long, sandy beach at Sotavento in the south of Fuerteventura, the René Egli Center was established in 1984. The combination of its warm climate, unique water and wind conditions and short flight times to the island make Fuerteventura Europe’s year-round watersports paradise. 

Due to its geographical location and the island’s geology, the area around the Playa Sotavento enjoys consistent wind conditions. Indeed, Fuerteventura’s unique climate and wind conditions make it a great holiday destination all year round. 

Our centres, one at the north and the other at the south end of a tide-dependent lagoon, are approx. 4km apart. Center I, just a short distance away from the 4****+ Hotel Meliã Gorriones is known not only for the range and quality of the services it provides, but also for its excellent wind conditions which have made it the ideal venue for the Windsurfing World Cup, held here for the last 27 years.

To the south of the lagoon Center II, with its moderate wind and calm, shallow waters, provides ideal conditions for both beginners and more experienced windsurfers. Just a few metres to the north of here, a sandbank provides some magnificent waves for you to enjoy. 

Our centers offer you a huge selection of the latest equipment which is unique the world over. Again for 2012 we have stocked up on 1000 Neilpryde rigs and 400 top-of-the range windsurfboards from JP-Australia und Starboard. We will be happy to reserve you a fixboard for the duration of your stay, but this can of course also be changed (depending on availability) so that you can try out every board in the category which you have booked. And don’t worry about bringing your own harness – all rigs come complete with a Neilpryde Vario harness lines.  

To ensure a trouble-free holiday experience, it goes without saying that we provide a lifeguard service with plenty of lifeguard towers around to monitor what’s going on in the water. 

Even when you’re not surfing, our team of over 60 staff will take care of everything for you from booking through to your return journey so that you can get on with enjoying your holiday to the full. Our physio- and massage team can offer professional treatments right on the beach and our team of specialist watersport photographers is always on hand to capture those special action shots for your album!
